Yes, a Bahamas vacation offers all these elements of paradise, but that's only the beginning. All this is a given! The beaches are all beautiful with white sand. The water is clear and warm no matter which Bahamas island you visit. The flats extend for miles around every island, which means great snorkeling and back country fishing wherever you go. The resorts are top notch and gorgeous across the Bahamas. This is all just the starting point!

A Bahamas vacation is really all about a luxury beach vacation with some water sports, sport fishing, and duty free shopping thrown in, depending on your tastes. There are dozens of ways to spend your time while you're not on the beach or on a boat or in the water. There are:

  • national parks
  • museums
  • walking tours
  • mansions to view

Aside from taking part in activities and attractions, visitors to The Islands of the Bahamas can also explore the culture and history of this fascinating nation. The people of the Bahamas are from a multiple areas of the world, but 85 percent are of African origin. The white folks are mostly from Britain, the ancestors either having come here directly from Britain or via the US. The Revolutionary War in the United states send many slave-holding folks from the US over to the Bahamas for a permanent Bahamas vacation! Since at that point the Bahamas were still part of colonial Britain, the slavery system was still in place. Some of the white folks in the Bahamas came for more virtuous reasons, and settled mostly on Eleuthera for religious freedom. Some pirates settled the Bahamas too. It's a mix! Today, most people of the Bahamas have one thing in common: they have a generous sense of hospitality, a love of music, and a great love for their island way of life.

Each island has its own history, so if you've visited one, you haven't actually visited them all! If you have time on your Bahamas vacation, visit some less-frequently traveled spots. You will be glad you did, after you experience the warm sensibilities and gracious nature of the Bahamian people. Sample some local food, visit a local art gallery, or just hang out in a small bar in a small town. The flavor of life is very agreeable here and you can relax so easily and have a great time.
