Description

The Elbow -

Tall coral spurs cover the slope of this dive site, which is populated by angelfish, jacks, grunts, barracuda, and turtles. The water visibility is typically very good, making Elbow Reef an excellent choice for undersea photography. A 752-ton steamer known as The Civil War Wreck and sunk in 1866 is covered in elkhorn coral and rests very near the surface, making it an ideal wreck for snorkeling or for diving. The detritus of two other wrecks, the City of Washington and the Towanda, are scattered across other areas of the site.
