Crane Point Hammock - Although you might pass right by it, don’t miss Crane Point Hammock right in the center of Marathon. It’s the home base of the Florida Keys Land and Sea Trust. Considered my many to be the most environmentally friendly and historically significant piece of property in the Keys, all 63 acres of this nature preserve contain exotic tropical trees and mangrove wetlands. There are also archaeological sites and a Bahamian conch-style house. A boardwalk over the tidal lagoon brings you in touch with stunning views of native plants and animals. |
