Description

Perky Bat Tower -

Don’t miss Sugarloaf Key’s, Perky Bat Tower. This bat house was built in 1929 by Richter C. Perky, who hoped to control the mosquito population with a population of bats that he would house in his bat condo. Nobody knows what really happened to the bats, but you can see the structure, which still stands and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
